Mirrored Tiger Claw Necklace in Oxidized Sterling Silver with 14k Gold Appliqué

I was inspired by Victorian tiger claw jewelry, so I created two tiger claw shapes and then created a group of jewelry based on manipulating those shapes. Cast in sterling silver and hollow, they are fairly lightweight, although they appear quite substantial.

I polished the pendant, but left it a little rough around the edges, and then used a soldering torch to apply a rough layer of 14k yellow gold to the point of the pendant. Then I oxidized it to bring out the gold, then and brushed to a lustrous satin finish. Due to the painterly nature of the technique I use to apply the gold, there will be some natural variation on the gold overlay.

The pendant measures 1 1/4" long x 3/4" wide x 1/4" thick and is affixed into a 22" long oxidized sterling silver chain, with a traditional sterling silver spring clasp and joint.

Gift boxed and ready to ship, handmade in beautiful Brooklyn. The paper lining the gift box may be different than is what is pictured, but it will be just as pretty.
